Nanjing Travel Notes (Part 3)

The last day

Nanjing Museum

On the last day of the trip, the weather was fine and I visited the Nanjing Museum this morning.

National Central Museum, which was founded in 1933 by Cai Yuanpei. It was the earliest museum in China and the first large-scale comprehensive museum built by the state in China. The predecessor of the Nanjing Museum was the preparatory department of the National Central Museum,4which established in 1933. The museum took over 12.9 hectares (32 acres) in the Half Hill Garden of Zhongshan Gate.Cai Yuanpei, the first preparatory president of the council of the museum, proposed building three major halls, named “Humanity,” “Craft” and “Nature”. Because of China’s political instability in the 1930s, only the Humanity Hall was built. The historianFu Sinianand anthropologist and archaeologistLi Jiwere once preparatory presidents, and the archaeologist and museologist Zeng Zhaoyu (曾昭燏) was the first female president and also a founder of Nanjing Museum. In 1999 and 2009, extensions were built to the museum.

The museum uses time as a clue to show the magnificentness of the land from the ancient times to the prehistoric civilization on the land of Jianghuai. It shows the historical trajectory of Nanjing City starting from Han, beginning in Wu, prospering in the Ming and Qing Dynasties and resting in the Republic of China. A detailed list of cultural relics.

The Nanjing Museum was listed on the four national relics of the “National Treasure”. In addition to the “Knuyu Wanguo Quantu”(literally: “A Map of the Myriad Countries of the World”), I was fortunate enough to see the real thing.

When I was watching the national treasure, I saw a comment about the Republic of China Street in Nanjing Museum. The Nanjing Museum is probably one of the few museums that showcases the customs of the ROC. The modern history of China began in Nanjing and finally Nanjing. The National Treasure is the first to introduce the Palace Museum, and the last issue introduces the Nanjing Museum. The main tour sequence of the Nanjing Museum also began in ancient times, finally at the ROC Street.

Although the ROC Street is equipped with style of antique or classical beauty, most of it is selling modern tourism products. Moreover, the gap between the rich and the poor in the Republic of China is wide. Ballrooms, auditoriums, banks, etc. are all serving the petty bourgeoisie and above. Metropolis infested with foreign adventurers, gifted scholars and beautiful ladies. In the end, it was abandoned by the general public.

Coming out of the ROC Street, it ended the tour of the main pavilion. In addition, I saw a few free special exhibitions. I really appreciate the patience of H and T. They are both too tired to leave, so I am full of energy 罒ω罒. It is worthwhile.

Return

Thank you very much H for the three days of hospitality. There is no never-ending feast. As we grow up, it is increasingly difficult for everyone to have free time and opportunities to get together. Everyone misses the days of the past, but time is always moving forward. Starting from the sun, leave the shadow behind. May friendship last forever!
